Adding to the List of They Who Must Not Be Named

Former football coach and tight end Mike Ditka, who just said that, "there has been no oppression in the United States in the past 100 years:
Even before this NFL season, which has featured team owners linking arms with players as shows of solidarity amid sharply critical comments from President Trump, some players were noting that the original message of protests during the national anthem had been largely lost. To them, the cause of bringing attention to racial injustice, in particular police brutality against black men, had been overshadowed by a heated national discussion over the merits of taking a knee during the national anthem.

To former NFL coach and ESPN analyst Mike Ditka, however, that cause made no sense to begin with. In a pregame interview before a radio broadcast of Monday night’s game between the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings, he said, “There has been no oppression in the last 100 years that I know of.”
The Germans have a term for this, Fachidiot, (Google Translate) which refers to an expert who is a complete moron outside of his limited area of expertise.

Thus, I add Michael Keller Ditka to my list of They Who Must Not Be Named, unless he decides to do something like running for office, (please God no) you will here nothing about him from me

Of course, I haven't posted about him before, so carry on.

Adding to the List of They Who Must Not Be Named

I've always though that the Olympics was a Petri dish for corruption, violent nationalist tendencies, and egregiously bad "journalism".

This year, it appears that NBC has outdone itself in its coverage.

It's bad.

It's really bad.

It's really, really, really bad.

Seriously, it ain't good.

I'm adding the Olympics, and discussions of Olympic coverage to my list of They Who Must Not Be Named, absent something of Munich level catastrophe.

Because I Refuse to Panda

I have now placed all members of the species Ailuropoda melanoleuca at the national zoo in Washington, DC on my list of They Who Must Not Be Named:

A giant panda at a zoo in the United States has given birth to twin cubs.

Keepers at the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington DC only discovered Mei Xiang was pregnant during an ultrasound scan last week. The zoo said both cubs appeared healthy.

Giant pandas are one of the most endangered species in the world and are notoriously hard to breed in captivity.

The National Zoo is one of only four zoos in the US to have pandas, which are on loan from China.
Call me a traditionalist, but if I want to overload you with cuteness, I will use cats.

Worst ……… Abstinence ……… Advocate ……… Ever

Bristol Palin, who I must congratulate both on her upcoming out-of-wedlock bundle of joy, and her addition to the most distinguished order of They Who Must Not Be Named.

I'm kind of surprised that I had not already added her to the list, but absent some sort of political activity, such as endorsements, running for office (PLEASE GOD NO!!), or their attempting to assassinate someone, she will not be mentioned here again.

And so I Must Add Another to the List of They Who Must Not Be Named………

The Stupid, it Burns Us!
I must add (thankfully former) Twitter "Hashtag activist" Suey Park, who face planted with her #CancelColbert tag about a year ago.

It started with ……… Hell, just watch the attached video.

Short version:
  • Football team owner and contemptible scumbag Dan Snyder, facing criticism for his team's name, founds the "Washington Redskins Original Americans Foundation" in a ploy that not even his own mother would believe.
  • Colbert makes joke about this.
  • Comedy Central tweets punchline bereft of context.
  • Ms. Park has a Twitter fit, despite never having seen the original joke, which goes viral.
  • Colbert answers back (He is actually very gentle to her and savage on the cable news coverage) in the attached video.
  • Ms. Park becomes a laughing stock.
  • Dirtbag misogynists sent threats of murder and rape to Ms. Park, and she gets doxxed.
We can all agree that nothing that Ms. Park did merited the threats against her person.

What is also clear that, even by the incredibly lame standards of "Twitter Hashtag Activists," Suey Park squandered whatever credibility she once had: She has become a punchline to a very bad joke.

She has made some attempt to rehabilitate her reputation (see link), but, I don't care about her reputation, or how she feels about herself, or how she might have learned from the experience.

Until she does something that affirmatively proves that her opinions have some insight beyond what could be generated with an ELIZA program, she goes on my list of They Who Must Not Be Named.

That is all.

They Who Must Not Be Named

I'm not quite ready to add all reality TV Stars to my list, after all, one such star is now in the US Congress, but it does provide a rich vein of people who should (and will, at least by me) be ignored.

In my case, I am adding the whole Duggar clan to the list.

The problem here is not their choice of lifestyle, it is that we as a society watch this sh%$.

Adding to My List of They Who Must Not Be Named

Bruce Caitlin Jenner.

I support Transgender rights, but Bruce Caitlin Jenner hasn't done anything significant since that Village People movie back in the 1970s.

Another Person to Add to My List of They Who Must Not Be Named

Zoe Quinn.

I cannot separate fact from fiction, nor do I care to on the matter of the "Quinnspiracy".

But that has to be the most entertaining Wikipedia page entry that I have ever perused.

Burning Political Question of the Day

Why can't we Nickelback Sarah Palin?

Seriously, why do pop bands seem to have a sell-by date, where they go from beloved to loathed (I was unaware of Nickelback until people started hating in them, because I am, well, square), but figures in the political media complex don't.   (See also, "Blowfish, Hootie and the")

I burn for the day that I can place the beast from Wasilla  on my list of They Who Must Not Be Named

Added to My List of They Who Must Not Be Named ……… for a While, at Least ………

Victoria Jackson, the ditsy SNL alum who has devolved into right wing parody, has been added to my, "They Who Must Not Be Named," list.

Normally, she would be beneath the level of notice sufficient to get on the list, but seeing as how she is
making noises about running for public office, I have put her on the list, at least until she actually runs:

I’m a proud, unabashed, and unapologetic Liberal. No surprise there, eh? That said, I’m not one to believe that only people who think like me are worthy of being involved in our political process. Yes, I believe most of today’s Conservative ideology is not just wrong, but dangerously so, but I think our democracy is best served by having both sides of the political/ideological fence represented. If nothing else, maintaining that sort of balance/tug of war helps to prevent the sorts of excess that can happen when one party enjoys an unbreakable grip on power.

Our democracy works best (and arguably only works at all) when those involved in setting policy have both feet firmly grounded in reality. With the advent of the Tea Party, that reality has been repeatedly proven to be elusive. The examples are too numerous to mention. Government doesn’t work when the people involved in it are, for lack of a more polite description, bat-$#!% crazy. I say this because it’s comes to light that Victoria Jackson, the Tea Party’s Queen of Bat-$#!% Crazy, is contemplating getting into politics. For reasons known only to herself, Jackson thinks she actually has something of value to offer. Unfortunately, the ability and willingness to repeatedly make a fool of oneself publicly isn’t much of a resume for an aspiring public servant. ………
In the name of all that is holy, I hope never to write of her ever again, but if she actually runs for office………

Why Levi Johnston is Not on My List of They Who Must Not Be Named

Because whenever he appears on the news, he does something that honks off Sarah Palin. (Custody dispute, don't bother clicking)

Until I can put Palin on my list of They Who Must Not Be Named, Levi Johnston must still be discussed on this blog.

It's kind of petty and nasty on my part, but I gotta be me.

The Onion Riffs

On the Royal pregnancy, and channels Rosemary's Baby.

It's hysterical, and well worth a read.

As a personal note, I must add the Royal baby bump, I already put its parents, to the list of They Who Must Not Be Named.

But read The Onion.

All Praise Be to God for That Which he Has Granted…

In this case, it's the fact that Sarah Palin has declared that she will not run for President in 2012, which means that I can add her to my list of They Who Must Not Be Named:

Sarah Palin said she won’t seek the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, ending a lengthy and attention-grabbing political flirtation that kept voters and potential rivals guessing while buttressing her public profile.

The former Alaska governor and her party’s 2008 vice presidential nominee -- more recently a reality TV star and cable-news commentator -- said she opted against a White House run because she believed “that at this time I can be more effective in a decisive role to help elect other true public servants to office -- from the nation’s governors, to congressional seats and the presidency.”

Her announcement, in a statement sent to supporters today, removed a major uncertainty surrounding the Republican presidential race while raising questions about how she might use her celebrity and political following to shape the primary.

“I will continue driving the discussion for freedom and free markets, including in the race for president,” Palin’s statement said.

“I will help coordinate strategies to assist in replacing” President Barack Obama, keeping Republican control of the U.S. House and helping her party win a Senate majority, she said.
This means that I never have to write about her, or read about her, again.

While we are at it, let me add the following people to my list:
  • John and Kate Gosslin.
  • The cast of The Jersey Shore.
  • The "Real Housewives" of anywhere.
  • Nancy Grace.  (If she flips out on national TV, or is tried for a crime, this is suspended for reasons of schadenfreude)
Actually, let's say that it includes pretty much any reality TV star.

In any case, Sarah is now done.  She's made her bucks off of her 15 minutes of fame, and she was a springboard for Michelle Bachmann to become a viable (?) presidential candidate.  (The Republican Crazy Bitch Babe is the genre that she created.)
